The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) and family of churches was founded in Nigeria in 1952 by Reverend Akindayomi, following a divine revelation received by a young man whose heart had been set ablaze with a desire to personally encounter the Supreme Being of God, which went against the culture of worshiping nature at this time. Seeking a fervent and personal relationship with the God he still knew little about at the time, soon to become Reverend Josiah Olufemi Akindayomi, Mr Akindayomi became increasingly more convinced that there was a greater power than those commonly known to his people. This Pursuit Of God led him to answer the call of God through the Church Missionary Society where he was baptised in 1927.
OUR HISTORY
The Divine Chronicle of Our Mission
A dignified reflection on the God‑ordained foundations, leaders, and milestones that define our mission’s history.
In the early 1970s, Rev. Akindayomi received a message from the Lord about his spiritual successor, a young educated man who was, at the time, not a member of the Church. This young man was Dr Enoch Adejare Adeboye, a young university lecturer in Mathematics who loved the Lord and became a member of the Church in 1973, Rev Akindayomi spiritually discerned, that this was the person the Lord had spoken about. Dr Adeboye soon became involved in the activities of the Church and began to serve as an interpreter for Rev Akindayomi, translating his live sermons from Yoruba to English. He was ordained a pastor of the church in 1975.
Rev. Akindayomi remained faithful to this calling all the days of his life and finally went to be with the lord after a long and impactful life, in 1980.

Pastor E.A. Adeboye became the General Overseer of the RCCG in 1981 and the Redeemed Church continued to go from strength to strength . Under his leadership, the RCCG began to experience the phenomenal growth promised by the Lord to his predecessor Devoted to fervent prayer and known for his unwavering emphasis on Holy living as the foundation of a fruitful and enduring relationship with God.
Pastor Adeboye is courageously committed to bringing the message of the gospel to nations around the world as every Christian is called to do in every sphere of life. Pastor Adeboye is an inspiration and his widely acknowleged humble disposition establishes and confirms him as a role model for many the world over. In December 2008, Newsweek, the international news magazine, named him one of the 50 most influential persons on the planet.
Michael A. Dada fondly called Pastor Mike is a Bible Expositor, an entrepreneur, mentor, a missionary, a preacher and teacher of the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. His unparalleled passion for Jesus is clearly seen. He oversees multiple ministries and is married to Abi Dada. Pastor Mike is excited to have helped begin this wonderful young place of worship in Budapest. This chronology summarises the events that surrounded the birth, development and the impact of RCCG Hungary Mission between 2007 until present.
RCCG Jesus House Budapest started as a house-fellowship by a couple of students with the leading of Sis. Emilia, who was a student herself. Our meetings were held every Saturday in Nagyvarad tér, district 9, Budapest and occasionally in even some of the student’s hostels.
December, 2006: At this time there was no matured bible believing, English speaking church in Budapest. Thankfully, Pastor Samuel Obot stepped in to consolidate the fragmented fellowships, thereby starting the RCCG Hungary mission.
January, 2007: The first meeting of 2007 started with a sermon, titled: Strategy For A New Beginning.
2007 – 2008: The fellowship experienced growth in attendance, so it was a natural progression to start regular Sunday Services. Our first venue was in Nagyvarad ter, district 9, Budapest.
2009 – 2010: The Church experienced some challenges due to the majority of the students completing their studies and leaving the country. Pastor Mark Igiehon and the Jesus House Aberdeen Headquarters’ financial support and mentorship played a large role in sustaining the Mission.
2010 – 2012: Sister Janet Obot took over the leading role for a time and helped maintain the church until Pastor Adepoju, who was the Nigerian Ambassador in Hungary, visited the Church, and soon was able to take full time charge of its management. This led to a season of financial stability and structurally was re-established.
2012 – 2015: The Church experienced new levels of stability and growth and by this time was able to hold outreach initiatives with the support of the Headquarters in Aberdeen. Testimonies of miraculous healings, promotions and divine preservation filled the Redeemed church. Several attempts were made to legalise the Church, but these remained unsuccessful due to constant changes in Government policies which governed the registration of religious organisations at that time.
2015 – 2017: This was the season when God chose to answer our prayers for a stable Pastor in the person of Pastor Michael A. Dada, who was and is a dedicated missionary. The church became registered , legally recognised and accredited by the Hungarian authorities. This enabled another phase of missionary work and enabling Jesus House to launch outreach initiatives including fellowship and worship centres in major universities outside the city of Budapest.
2017- to present: This is heralded as the church’s season of stability and consolidation. Selfless contributions of members and support from sister churches in Europe, God has moved Jesus House Budapest into our own worship centre and started building upon the existing foundations of Evangelism, Soul Winning, living and walking in the power of God
